The first XI bandwagon rolled on to face CPA Smethwick, a fixture that is always hard fought and generally very close.
The start of the game belied this fact however as Wulfs poured forward straight from the kick off and created chance after chance.
Wulfs took the lead on eleven minutes. A corner caused panic in the Smethwick penalty area, Tony Morrison saw his shot cleared off the line, James Skedgel's follow up met the same fate but Nik Wooldridge made no mistake with a low hard shot from fourteen yards out.
The next twenty minutes saw Wulfs create, and spurn, a plethora of very good chances. Simon Hardle headed the guilty list. Firstly he produced some Waardling of the highest quality to leave three defenders in his wake but his attempted cut back to the onrushing throng went straight into the keepers arms. Next, when put through by Jason Scott, his attempted lob landed fractionally over the bar and finally he raced on to a Tim Tipton clearance but spanked his shot just wide of the post.
Myles Fenn had two chances to double his Old Wulfs goal tally. Firstly he saw his towering header from a Hardle corner scrape the outside of a post and then he drove over from the edge of the area after good set up play by Skedgel and Liam Evans.
Nik Wooldridge was the other player to go for goal but his long range shot flew wide.
A 1 - 0 lead is precarious at the best of times but when sweeper Jason Scott is in the mood to perform back heels and nutmegs in his own penalty area, a second goal was a must.
Thankfully that came five minutes into the second half. A throw in on the right saw Hardle produce another quality Waardle before curling in a left foot cross which was met by a first time guided finish from Liam Evans.
With a clear lead established, and some tired legs after Wednesday's game against Penncroft, Wulfs eased off the gas and replaced Tony Morrison with Andrew 'The Punisher' Thompson. Unfortunately his only real moment of note was to produce a Bambi like challenge with the Smethwick centre half where Skelly folded like a pack of cards.
It's now only six more wins required for the hat-trick of league titles.
Final score: CPA Smethwick 0 Old Wulfrunians 2.
