Parkfield Amateur v Old Wulfrunians

Despite reaching the Junior Cup final last week, this game had a distinctly end of season feel to it.  Nonetheless, Wulfs dominated possession and can consider themselves unlucky not to gain at least a point.

Wulfs started well and Chris Tranter put Jon Hart through but his awful attempt at a chip nearly ended on the railway line.

Wulfs continued to pressure the Parkfield defence and from a long throw, the ball fell to debutant Martin Dalton who shot straight at the keeper.

Richard Winzor then headed a Chris Tranter corner wide from the penalty spot as Wulfs continued to push for the opening goal.

A crucial injury to Nick Richards just before half time made things difficult for Wulfs because only the mercurial Dave Winzor was on the bench following cry-offs and it was debatable whether Dave on two legs was better than Nick on one.  Anyway, an immobilised Richards carried on which put extra pressure on the other ten players but still Parkfield failed to threaten.

By now Chris Tranter, along with Jon Hart, had sobered up slightly after a night of debauchery and Tranter could only divert a free kick into the keepers arms.

Rob Edwards saw a shot fly over the bar and Jon Hart had a shot blocked and the game seemed destined for a 0 - 0 draw, and another clean sheet for Tristan Stephens, when Richard Winzor and the Parkfield forward challenged for a ball on the corner of the penalty box.  Winzor lost his bearings for a second, the forward took the ball away from him and Winzor tripped him for a penalty in the 92nd minute.  It was well converted but hard to bear as Tristan Stephens had otherwise had very little to do.

Not a good day.

Final score: Parkfield Amateur 1  Old Wulfrunians 0.
