Billesley came out playing some quick attacking football, most of it coming down the flanks and being started by their fullbacks. With a few Wulfs players feeling the heat, the first twenty minutes were hard going.
Wulfs were attacking also and were getting some joy off the Billesley fullbacks pushing on and leaving some space to move the ball into and look for crosses into the box.
Billesley's goal came off long throw with the first header not being won. This meant that the forward just beat a defender to the knock down and big Dave Scorer didn't have any chance from five yards out.
Wulfs then started to get on top and should have levelled up but hit the bar and the rebound wasn't put away.
The Billesley keeper then made a very good save from Paul Fothergill when he had found some room in the area.
Danny Patrick was booked just before the break after doing the one thing you should never do, criticise the referee while standing two feet away. A needless £8.
The second half started the same as the first, again they moved the ball out from the back but our forwards did try and close down. Billesley then got a second goal following some slack marking from a corner, seeing Wulfs had been defending for about fifteen minutes, it was probably deserved.
Everyone notice how Minty Postance hasn't been mentioned in this report yet? That is because apart from one shot people were wondering if he'd:-
Been sent off. P*ss*d off. Gone to get P*ss*d up.
Cometh the hour cometh the Mint. After picking the ball up on the right wing he took it inside passed a couple of Brummies. Left another one sitting on his Harris, dropped his shoulder, bent down, picked it up. Rolled his eyes and stuck the ball in the bottom corner. Voices were heard talking of a likeness to one George Best, obviously someone had seen him in the early hours staggering from Cheeky Monkey's at 2.30 being followed by girls asking for Phil Gardner's mobile number.
The game then went very scrappy with a few players from both sides getting a bit too involved in arguing with each other. One more yellow card followed by a mass hand bag brawl and a red one wasn't what the Wulfs needed. Seriously lads you can taunt the opposition all you want when in the lead but when your 2-1 down with ten minutes left, an equaliser would be better than an early bath.
OWFC man of the match Jim Lawton.
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 1 Billesley United 2.
