Having already faced Sutton United twice this season, losing 6-0 in the league and scrapping a 2-1 victory in the cup, and without the inspirational Gareth 'Wand' Lawton and Phil 'The Puppet Master' Gardner to pull the strings, both who were away living it up in Prague, the third XI knew that they were in for a tough match.
The opening twenty minutes were exactly that with Sutton having the better of the game but failing to really trouble big Dave Scorer.
Wulfs slowly started to get into the game. With Jim Lawton and Andy Weblin working tirelessly in the midfield, the gaps started to appear in the Sutton defence for the ever persistent Bhupesh Patel to take advantage of and by half time Wulfs were comfortably on top of the game and had created several good chances but failed to convert them.
The second half carried on where the first left off with Wulfs well on top but failing to convert chances.
The game turned when Ashley Postance suffered a groin injury and due to the lack of substitutes available, he moved up front with Simon Stewart dropping back into midfield.
Stewy immediately put Sutton on the back foot by picking the ball up and running at them and when a ball broke loose to Postance ten yards out following a great run by Stewy, there was only ever going to be one outcome, 1-0 Wulfs.
The second goal took a while coming but after a good run by Danny Patrick down the wing and a deflected shot the ball fell to Postance's feet who, like all great strikers, was in the right place at the right time to finish neatly from outside the box by lifting the ball over the stranded keeper into the empty net.
The game was finished off shortly after when Patel finally finished one of his many chances after he latched onto a long clearance by Dave Scorer and cleverly headed the ball over the keeper to make it 3-0.
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 3 Sutton United 0.
