Barbarians came out the blocks as expected for a side second in the league. They created a few chances but nothing that lucky omen Paul Bartle couldn't handle.

After this quick start it was looking a bit worrying but Wulfs started to get the ball down very well and passed around the opposition.

Adam Campbell had two very good chances to give Wulfs the lead but the first was saved well by the keeper and the second was blazed over the bar from 10 yards.  Bhupesh Patel was also guilty of lacing a shot that landed somewhere in the rugby club.

A Danny Patrick corner was floated into the box after half an hour, Campbell at the back post directed it into the net for his second goal of the season but as we know it should have been about his fifteenth, head up Adam eh.

Half time came too soon for Wulfs who were in total control and should have been three or four up but looked good anyway.

The second half was probably the best passing forty-five minutes by the third team this season and it looked like we were the second placed league team rather than the Barbars.  The opposition could not deal with the way Wulfs moved the ball around.  Every single player looked confident and calm, there were no rushed passes, dodgy clearances or sloppy play but unfortunately they could not add to the score.

One nil is always an awkward score as everybody knows, this was proved correct when Pav Kosla gave away a free kick just inside his own half.  A free kick was looking the only way the barbs would score, the player formally known as THE BIG SHOW launched his kick onto the head of the Barbs centre half who had the skin of Gavin Henson and the face of Tony Adams, he just got in front of a Wulfs player to loop the ball into the far corner of the net.  A robbery had occurred on the scale of the GREAT TRAIN and the BRINKS MAT rolled into one.

Wulfs had another couple of chances to win the game but a lack of time stopped us, to be honest we did have enough chances during the first forty-five to bury this game and throw a spanner in the Barbs promotion push.

Some excellent displays from Paul Bartle, who unfortunately cannot commit to playing for the club but is an amazing keeper to use when needed, Jim Lawton, the permanent team of the week fixture, James Sutton, who gave nothing away to a very quick forward and Ashley Poshpants who was up against Andre the Giant/Big Show.

Man of the Match: Shared between Jim Lawton and Paul Bartle

Final score: Old Wulfrunians 1  University Barbarians 1.
