The fourth XI faced Flamengo this week fresh from a 6-1 drubbing by the same opponents last week.
Wulfs were buoyed by the fact that Flamengo were starting with nine men due to traffic problems and the fact that they had the prolific partnership of Andrew Thompson and Gary Dimmack up front. They also had the added boost of a stand in assistant manager in the absence of Andy Carey and what a presence Sheena Marsh was on the touchline.
It couldn't have started any worse for the home side as they went one nil down in the first ten minutes. This was a hammer blow for many of the players as the realisation of just how bad they were set in.
Wulfs fought back valiantly however and despite the terrible conditions pressed for an equaliser - both Andy Skedgel and Skelly Thompson going close but to no avail.
The number of opposition players then gradually started increasing having a 'bleep-test' effect on the Wulfs midfield. This was not very encouraging as if you add up the totals of the highest levels ever attained doing the bleep-test by the three musketeers (Nick Ling, Richard Marsh and Andy Skedgel) you still have a number in single figures below five.
I can't remember the score at half time, but it was 6 - 0 to Flamengo in the end.
The terrible pitch didn't help matters but an encouraging performance from Chris Nicholls at sweeper and a surprisingly lively performance from Skelly up front (considering his hangover) did a lot to keep the score down.
Ling, Marsh and Skedgel were also class as always purely because of the fact I write the match report.
Joe Caddick and Oliver Baker also came off the bench to make promising debuts.
Another week, another thrashing - we all really need to sort our lives out and win a game or two!
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 0 Flamengo 6.
