The fourth XI were playing what seemed like their 100th away game in a row at Fujitsu knowing that they were coming up against a good footballing side. A narrow defeat at home to them earlier in the season meant Wulfs had a bit of a task ahead of them if they wanted to come away with the maximum points they desperately needed to avoid the drop. They did however have a very strong looking line-up taking the field which looked quite promising.
The game started off fairly tamely with both sets of players struggling with the bobbly surface. Wilclare were the first team to settle however and pressed forward with some very good passing moves. Andrew Skedgel was on hand however to nullify most things as he reverted to arguably his best position sweeping up at the back.
It was down to a fortunate bounce that Wilclare took the lead twenty-four minutes in and it was really tough on Wulfs who were defending valiantly until then.
Wulfs didn't offer great deal going forward and were restricted to a few half chances before Wilclare doubled their lead just before the break.
Wulfs came out for the second half determined to show the better side of themselves and after some hard work from Paul Janos halved the deficit. Janos chased down what seemed like a lost cause in the right channel and robbed the Wilclare defender before squaring for Skelly Thompson to slot home his fifth in six starts.
Wilclare showed their class however and managed to fend off some great pressure from Wulfs before scoring again.
Gary Dimmock then made a change which lead to one of the most unsavoury incidents in footballing history. Joe Thorne replaced the enigmatic Stefan Kapcia who, upon finding out he'd been substituted ripped off his shirt and threw them it the ground. There were unconfirmed reports that as he passed manager Gary Dimmock on the way off the pitch he said he would take over from Stuart Wright as Linesman only to leave without taking the flag. Further reports are that he kicked a small puppy to death on the way home and when he got home he took out his frustrations on his wife and beat her to a pulp - he's an all round bad egg that one (only kidding Stef).
Substitute Joe Thorne then preceded to dislocate his hip and be replaced a few minutes after coming on by Stuart Wright.
Wulfs conceded again before the end to lose 4-1 and they are now staring down the barrel of relegation to division 5. Final score: Willclare Fujitsu 1 Old Wulfrunians 4.
