The fifth XI kicked off 2005 with a difficult home game against top of the table Wythall Athletic.
The final score line does not truly reflect the game. After an even first half both teams had failed to break the deadlock.
In the ten minutes after the break Wulfs had three presentable chances to take the lead, none of which were taken
However, Wythall proved to be more clinical in their finishing and took the lead with a well taken goal.
After this Wulfs had to chase the game and left gaps at the back which Wythall exploited with ruthless ease.
The lessons for Wulfs from this game are that they have to take their chances. Nevertheless there is still plenty of hope for the future. There were some good personal performances from Richard Lovegrove, Darren Gayle, Rob Edwards (in a makeshift goalkeeper capacity) and Gary Dimmack (on loan from the fourth team).
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 0 Wythall Athletic 4.
