Sporting 2003 v Old Wulfrunians

After last weeks loss to Bio Care, Old Wulfs fifth XI were looking for some bouncebackability against high flying Sporting 2003.  Once again Wulfs were left struggling with no shows and cry offs.  You guys know who you are!!

With Chris Nicholls dropping back into the Wulfs goal and Gordon "The Legend" Brown recalled to the forward line, Wulfs couldn't have wished for a better start when they took the lead after just five minutes, Daniel Cox with a truly well taken goal.

The next ten minutes changed the game completely.  First there was the two foot from behind challenge on the Wulfs goalie which was a hospital challenge and should have been a straight RED CARD but the referee deemed it as clumsy and didn't even produce a card of any colour.

With the keeper still shaking off the effects, he was well beaten for pace when the sporting club no. 10 lobbed the ball over his head from  eighteen yards out only for Danny Cheal to save it on the line.  Unfortunately, the letter of the law was used this time and Danny had to go …. RED was the Colour and Wulfs would have to have fight on with ten men.

Sporting scored from the resulting penalty which the keeper got his hand to but just couldn't keep it out.

It was then a case of the Alamo for the rest of the game.  If the opposition had enough chances, a cricket score looked possible.  This was the case as fifty shots later the score line was 10-1 but this was a shame as the game was a far better contest when it was 11 v 11.  Thanks Ref….

One final note, you've got to feel sorry for the keeper and the back four who battled on tremendously to keep the score at 10……..

Moan of the match: the referee was very biased.  It seemed sporting could get away with anything and the disgraceful tackle on the keeper when the ball had gone out of play was just unacceptable.

Look-a-like of the match: Sporting No. 11 - Wesley Snipes, not only did he look like him but when he went through the back of the keeper he proved what a Demolition Man he was…….

Taxi of the match: Danny Cheal is this weeks clear winner.  If you are going to use your hands, put the goalie shirt on … TAXI FOR CHEAL.

Final score: Sporting (2003) 10  Old Wulfrunians 1.
