Old Wulfrunians v Boldmere Steelers

With relegation looming, the fifth XI were looking to get some points on the board against high flying Boldmere Steelers, who hammered Wulfs last time the two teams met.

Wulfs were boosted by the return of Chris Nicholls to the team and also new goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Wulfs started strongly and looked far more convincing, unlike in previous weeks.  It was no surprise when Gordon "The Legend" Brown found Ian "Wrighty" Phillips and he scored his eighth goal of the season to put Wulfs one nil up…

It was then a case of one way traffic with Danny Cheal and Mike Hill coming close to finishing off the Steelers before half time.

Wulfs started the second half quite brightly, but despite creating plenty of chances, couldn't find that killer goal to finish off the Steelers.

With victory almost in their grasp, Wulfs had a defensive lapse with about a minute left to play and the Steelers scored to level the game.

Once again the possibility of winning all three points were nicked away at the death of the game.  Wulfs should have had it won by halftime.

On the day there were some great performances from Daniel Cox, Pete Oakley, Danny Cheal, Rob James and debutant Matt Turner in the Wulfs goal.

Final score: Old Wulfrunians 1  Boldmere Steelers 1.
