A big thank you to all involved
With the season now all but over it's time to start handing out the messages of thanks.
Firstly, and most importantly, to the officers of the Birmingham AFA who make this one of the best run leagues in amateur football. Steve Durham the Honorary Secretary, Mike Dowling the Registrations Secretary, John Drinkwater the Fixtures Secretary, Mike Chiswell the Referee's Secretary, plus everyone else who makes it run so smoothly - thank you.
The referees and assistant referees. Without their presence there would be no football. Many apologies for Jason Scott's moaning, he will retire soon.
Closer to home, thank you to the officers of OWFC who have helped us to another successful season. Chairman Dave Winzor, Secretary Robin Lowbridge, Treasurer Matt West, Fixture Secretary Jon Hart plus everyone else who has played a part in the running of the club.
The match managers Pete Tipton for the first XI, Dave Winzor for the second XI, Dave Griffiths and Phil Gardner for the third XI, Gary Dimmack and Andy Carey for the fourth XI and Chris Jones and Robin Lowbridge for the fifth XI.
Not forgetting my excellent team of match reporters including Jamie Perkins (a seasoned professional), Phil Gardner (a natural), Nick Ling (a Stuart Hall in the making) and Chris Nicholls (how he managed to produce lengthy reports week after week for a team that consistently lost heavily I'll never know).
The hardened band of supporters who turn up week in week out despite the fact that I'm no longer playing so they haven't got a favourite player to slaughter.
Finally to all of the players who have represented OWFC this season, especially those who have been daft enough to give me plenty to write about.
Onwards and upwards.
